No matter how you feel about some of the story changes, the work on fhe characters and their relationships is just so well done.

It was funny to approach these quests having done the physical role quest first. While I do have some appreciation for what it did, it arguably feels the weakest of the 4. So when I started the remaining 3, I was shocked by just how satisfying the stories felt. I'm very excited to see you go through the Tank and Healer quests, as I found their stories as enjoyable as the mage's quests were!

This battle was especially 'fun to watch while knowing I would hate playing' which is a huge draw of this series for me.

For those who don't know, the Cardinal Virtues are references to the Four Heavenly Virtues or Four Cardinal Virtues found in Judeo-Christian ethics and iconography, just like most of the aesthetic of the sin eaters! They're often seen as the counterparts to the Seven Deadly Sins, to the point that there's occasionally seven of them to better balance the Seven Deadly Sins, but more often it's just the Four Virtues. The Four Cardinal Virtues are Courage/Fortitude, Justice, Temperance, & Prudence. Phronesis is the Greek word used to describe Prudence, which basically boils down to good judgment, clear-thinking, and logical reasoning.

my main DPS class is Black Mage, I'm...competent at it at least, and yeah, BLM is one of those classes where it's really weird to get used to and get the rotation down, but once you do it becomes a lot easyer.

so not only is Aerith's departure needlessly complicated from a story perspective, it's also pointlessly complicated in a gameplay sense. As pointed out in the og FF7 playthrough, this story beat hit so hard because it was the first time a party member permanently *left* the party, you couldn't use her anymore for the back half of the game. But now that just... doesn't matter. It's the end of the game anyway. When remake part 3 comes out, the whole party starts over at level one (or whatever arbitrary number they give you), plus you'll have two new party members to play with. And that's not even considering if they'll just give Aerith back anyways, considering they let you use her again during the final boss, or add even *more* replacement party members like Zack. Just... what is the point of any of this?

Yuffie is clearly the best date. No question. She's just fun to hang out with from beginning to end. Nanaki is a close second for much the same reason. And I feel genuinely sorry for Cait Sith. To have to share a ride with the three grumpy guys would have to be the worst.

Sat on the ending for a day so far. I think my thoughts can be summed up thusly: all the Final Fantasy 7 games have weirdly emotionally confusing endings so this one is par for the course. OG FF7 ended with people not really sure if the planet was saved or not, particularly with the epilogue with Red XIII. you could take it charitably and say everything ended well but the game itself doesn't give you that answer, and so it ends in a kind of confusingly weird place where we don't really get the answers to what happened until the movie came out years later. FF7 Remake is also really confusing, like it's inspiring that they broke destiny or whatever but then Zack shows up out of nowhere bringing Cloud into the city just as the group is leaving so it's like, what is happening? is this related to breaking fate somehow? does that mean Zack is alive in an alternate dimension, or are we in an alternate dimension? so if anything, FF7 Rebirth gives us probably the clearest ending yet; we know that Cloud is not alright, and is seeing things that aren't there. we know that Zack is alive in an alternative timeline to the one we're in, and so is Aerith, and that they both have some influence on the world that Cloud is in. this still leaves us with questions like, what is real, but again, that's par for the course with these games. "what am I supposed to be feeling?" seems to be the favourite question every FF7 ends with

It seems like we're going to get a big, long, multi-stage fight with Sephiroth at the end of all these Remake games, huh?

This was a sweet quest. Previous one ranks a bit higher for me because it was more focused on the WoD, but this one was sweet because we haven't really had much of helping one person for the sake of it this expansion. Not that there's anything wrong with that, we've had good reason to fight for the greater good, but I do appreciate a more small, friendly neighbourhood venture every once in a while. I would really like to see these two show up again sometime in the future, I love the family dynamic and I'd love to see how the two grow.

This is your spoiler free lore comment! 0:35 - As a note, last episode was a general physical DPS questline. Durmin could have undertaken it as a Samurai, if he wished. Today's questline is Magic DPS, so Red Mage or Summoner would also work here! And, I guess, Pictomancer, since it was released today. 2:00 - "Nonpareil" is a term that originates in French, which means without parallel, or unequaled. Phronesis is the Cardinal Virtue of wisdom or caution. It's Latin equivalent, prudentia, is the root word for prudence. And we'll see how Nyelbert the mage once exemplified this trait. 4:30 - Black Mage has some real difficulties in this game. It is one of the highest damaging jobs in the game, being extremely selfish, to the point that it's a bit of a meme in the community. But what makes Black Mage so difficult is that its damage rotation revolves around getting the absolute most out of its MP, with abilities that can drain vast amounts or just "all of what you have remaining". In addition, it has various mechanics to make some of your spells cost zero MP, but these require set up and optimal play to spend those zero MP moments on massive damage spells. What's worse is that the spell rotation can dramatically change depending on your level. Unlike other jobs which tend to "tack on" additional abilities at the end of a sequence, Black Mage's mechanics have sometimes resulted in some levels requiring a complete reordering of your spells. Which requires a Black Mage player to radically adjust their muscle memory the moment they enter a duty that syncs them down several levels. Sometimes you've got to have as big of a brain as Yoshi-P to play Black Mage (and Yoshi-P does play Black Mage). All of this is the reason I did these quests as Red Mage. My preferred method of playing Black Mage is in Frontlines. I set myself up as a piece of artillery, fire off spells, and then get swarmed and die. Rinse and repeat till max level. 7:30 - Yay, Phronesis is a Singularity mage! Black Holes for everyone! 16:35 - If this sounds familiar to you, remember that Y'shtola's "forbidden spell" (which she's used TWICE) is called "flow". And perhaps works somewhat similarly. 19:25 - Since Durmin has completed the Dark Knight questlines (per the Jobs skip), he has helped care for a child, although she's also fairly competent. She's managed to survive the Ishgardian Orthodox Church's Inquisitors trying to kill her. 23:25 - This might make for an awkward conversation later... 42:20 - As much as Cerigg has no clue how to care for a child, you're probably picking up the theme for this questline. The last episode was a kind of coming of age tale, with Lue-Reeq breaking away from his parents and learning how to stand independently as an adventurer and Renda-Rae finding her courage to face the Balam-Quitz both alone and with her new friends. But today's questline is all about family. Those you lose, and those you gain. 50:30 - I love that the facial animations have improved to the point that Taynor's anger is very obvious for us. His rigging isn't all that different than Alphinaud and Alisaie's. 54:25 - Lamit is wearing a helm, unlike all the other times we've seen her, and Nyelbert isn't a member of the team. This might be the earliest we've seen these Warriors of Light. And we see Cylva again! Maybe she's more than a groupie, perhaps she's the Pete Best of this little band. What's interesting is that Nyelbert and Lamit's spells are called "Ronkan", implying that the fallen empire was known for its magical ability. 1:02:00 - Wisdom. Caution. Temperance. A choice between saving your oldest friend, lost to the void, or allowing the deaths of dozens of miners and their families. Nyelbert's choice makes him a Warrior of Light and a member of this fledgling team. 1:13:45 - "Don't forget that you can cast Scathe while moving." 1:29:14 - I see someone's been trying out a different kind of Casting... 1:36:20 - Wow, this usually doesn't happen. When you're in a cutscene you're not supposed to be able to grab aggro from enemies. This must've just happened as Durmin was placed back on the normal map. Next time: to heal the sick, or protect the innocent? If you'll excuse me, I have head back to Tuliyollal to get some tacos!

As a throw back to episode 1 should have named the Finale "Dan is Confused Again" 😂 Yeah the ending here I'm guessing the white whispers were Aerith's or the planets maybe? I think two realities were created at the moment Sephiroth impaled Aerith and because Cloud has crossed world now he can commune with the living Aerith who was also able to come and help fight with Cloud during the final Phase. "Are you gonna be OK getting back?" Is basically heading back to her world. This is the only sense I can make of that while situation.

The Nanaki and Yuffie ones are so dang good, very fun and love that it isn't pushing a romantic "date" on Cloud. Also the final one is fantastic in its own way, I love the way it starts with Cait gathering who he can but can only get these few. It feels kinda like he's trying to have fun with the group knowing what he was about to do the next day and wanting one last hoorah, makes sense that way why he was so angry it wasnt working how he planned

Black Mage main here! Yeah, it's a tricky class. Not a 1-2-3 combo in sight. It's all spells that do big damage with different side effects that affect the spells you cast next. I treat it like a deckbuilding game, finding synergies between spells and testing them on training dummies until I suddenly wake up in the middle of the night with a brilliant new high-damage combo I need to try! Very satisfying! (Or you could look up the optimal rotation online, but I like to figure it out myself. Leaves me feeling like a clever master of the arcane that way!)

ALL the dates are completely perfect, and I have to believe that, somehow, all of them are simultaneously canon. 😄
